Why You'll Like It

This charming and historic property is a rare detached four bedroom character family house in the heart of this highly desirable village. The property occupies a corner plot and has entrances to the grounds from both Halvarras Road and Penhalls Way and is believed to have originated as a character cottage that was later added to, creating a charming, quirky and elegant period home which is a true rarity among the more modern properties in the surrounding area. A wrought iron gate between sturdy pillars is a delightful introduction to the sunny front garden which has a lawn and mature planting. There's a gravel pathway to the front door which opens into an impressive entrance hallway with gorgeous hard wood block flooring and an attractive stairway to the first floor landing where an arched window allows the light to flood in. To the left and right of the hallway are two very generous living / reception rooms (one of which could be used as a further bedroom if required). The living room has a beamed ceiling and large double glazed windows. There's a feature fireplace with wood burning stove and ample room for sizeable furniture. A door from the living room connects through to the kitchen which was relatively recently refitted with a timeless shaker style collection of base and wall units in a calming grey. There is a large built-in corner larder and ample space for freestanding appliances including cooker, washing machine and dishwasher. Next to the kitchen, the breakfast room has a double height vaulted ceiling and stable door to the enclosed rear porch. The space flows back around towards the hall from the breakfast room and there is a shower room/ cloakroom / WC and a coat cupboard in the hallway. A playroom connects through to the conservatory which has an outlook to the rear garden and French doors opening to the 2nd reception room which also has a wood burning stove and impressive wood block flooring. This room could be used as a dining room and there is actually a serving hatch through to the hallway at the kitchen end. Heading upstairs you notice the lovely old newel post and hard wood bannister and the feature arched window. The master bedroom has a spacious en-suite shower room which is equipped with a corner enclosure and white basin and WC suite. There are three further bedrooms on the first floor and the family bathroom has a white suite also and a shower over the bath with concertina glass screen. The property has mains gas central heating and the majority of it is double glazed. Outside to the front there is a sunny garden with lawn and gravel pathways and to the left hand side at the front is a useful storage shed (which is part of the house) and is ideal for garden equipment. The garden extends around the side of the property to the rear where there is a patio which has a lovely view towards a farm and from the patio a lawn slopes gently down. At the rear of the property there is a considerable amount of off street parking on the tarmac driveway.
